Fable was one of the most hyped Xbox games of all-time. Fable was meant to revolutionize the way RPGs were created and played. Actions your character took would directly affect your appearance and reputation among NPCs. Some people say it didn’t deliver. Others loved it. I am one of the gamers who loved it.
I spent countless hours playing Fable. The only knock was that once you maxed out your stats, there really wasn’t much to do. Enter Fable 2, the highly anticipated sequel coming to Xbox 360 in late 2008 (we hope).
The game will take place in Albion, 500 years after Fable’s setting, in a colonial era resembling the time of highwaymen or the Enlightenment. Guns are still primitive, and the entire area is free roaming and is more developed, with huge castles and cities in the place of towns. And unlike in the original, the player may choose to be either male or female.
One of the newest features Fable 2 will introduce is multiplayer ability. Being able to play with other people vastly increases a game’s lifespan. Here’s some info about Fable 2’s multiplayer aspects from wikipedia.
Multiplayer for Fable 2 has been confirmed at the 2007 E3 event and on the official website. Peter announced that this will be a risky procedure and players will either love it or hate it. Multiplayer in Fable 2 is played through Xbox Live or system link. It allows a host to invite up to 3 other Fable 2 players into their Albion to train, finish quests and so forth. Although the game is still in development, Peter explains that the Lionhead team are trying to make a feature which allows the invites to interact with the game’s NPCs. As well as this it has been said that there will also be multiplayer quest which will be harder than the single player quest, duels between 2 or more players and a clan feature. Although the multiplayer for Fable 2 has been confirmed, the multiplayer features are still in progress and are not the final result of anything. The public are due to find out more at the E3 conference in May 2008.
I really can’t wait for this game. It’s going to kick ass. And for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, here’s the teaser trailer.
